IT'S DONE!

I just wrote a journal saying that DeviantArt wouldn't let me upload this because it's 1mb over the file size limit. So I compressed a few images and managed to get it to 29mb instead. I don't think it's noticeable but if so, download one of the versions below instead.

How to play offline:

UPDATE! As you guys know, Flash has been discontinued online. However, it still works offline! So here's how to play the game.

Flash no longer lets you download Flash Player from their website, so I decided to do what I should've done a long time ago and just put Flash Player on Dropbox for anyone to grab. This version is only for Windows, so Mac and Linux users may be out of luck. Maybe there'll be a version on a third-party download site for those systems.

Flash:

  1. Download "Your New Life" using either of the download links above.
  2. Go to this page and download a standalone version of Adobe Flash Player.

Ruffle:

The next best thing to using Flash. I haven't been able to get the browser extension working with the game on this page but the offline version works perfectly, as far as I can tell:

  1. Download "Your New Life" using either of the download links above.
  2. Go to this page and download the Windows executable version of Ruffle.

Newgrounds Player:

I wasn't keen on the Newgrounds Player at first just because it doesn't resize the game automatically. So you have to do it yourself and if the game's dimensions aren't exactly right (1024x768), the game's art can look jagged. But between that and not being able to play the game at all, I'd pick that. If the regular Flash player stops working, Newgrounds Player is the only player I know that can play the game. I think this is the new best option for playing the game after this year.

  1. Download "Your New Life" using either of the download links above.
  2. Go to this page and follow the instructions to download and install the Newgrounds Flash Player.

.exe file:

At least one person has requested an .exe file, so here it is.

There's an option in Flash to export the game with something called Adobe AIR to make it an .exe file. Adobe AIR will supposedly be supported beyond 2020. However, the reason I'm sceptical is because I'm convinced it still uses Flash. The game's folder just has the Flash file, some icons and its own launcher. As of right now, I still consider this "untested".

Still, if you want to try it, here it is:

  1. Download the .exe file from Dropbox.
  2. Install it.

Major additions
  • Trainer Alexis Event 5
  • Trainer Alexis Ending
  • Trainer Alexis Pin-Up Image
  • Trainer Alexis Character Poser (post-game)
  • Two extra dialogue lines added for Mari, Shawna and Alexis at Relationship Level 5 (after their fifth event).
  • "Hide Dialogue" option added to all events.

Various minor changes and bug fixes:
  • Fixed Babysitter Mari's relationship values; Event 4 now activates at 550 relationship points, not 400.
  • The Mall Clerk's dialogue when buying story items has been added back in.
  • Saved games also record which dialogue lines have already been read (so talking to one love interest, saving and reloading will progress to the next line, rather than starting over from the first).
  • Fixed a few instances where the "Skip" button did not work (please let me know if you find more cases where it doesn't. It's been a big issue).

So what's next? Well we do still have a few more plans for Your New Life, so it's not quite done yet. But I'm happy to say that I've done when I set out to do when I learned how to use Flash and made a full fetish game!
